I’m very excited to announce the re-launch of this blog in a new home. As I mentioned a little while ago, I’ve been working on a new home for the blog, as it has grown and changed to be something I’m very proud of, but needed a new look and name to match what it had become – a blog abouth ethical clothing and living. I’m thrilled to let you know that this blog has now moved to Collection of Good- a blog that brings together a variety of beautiful, functional and socially responsible things – things that are good in many different and beautiful ways, and things that help to create good in the world. I’m very proud of the new site, the new feel of the blog and the new direction I’ve planned for it. I hope you enjoy! And don’t forget to follow via bloglovin to make sure you’re up to date with the new posts as soon as they arrive!

The golden years vintage etsy store will still be running, and you’ll still be able to hear about it on Collection of Good too.

let me know your thoughts on this exciting new move! See you there…

Hello lovely and extremely patient friends!

I’m sorry to those of you who’ve wondered if I’d somehow fallen off the face of the planet. I haven’t, I was just kinda rude to not leave a note or say a thing! The truth is, about a month ago, I came to a decision to change some things about the blog – including a new name to move forward with. I love my little etsy store to pieces, but the blog is a whole realm of its own and for a while I’ve been feeling that it needed to have its own identity, especially for the content I write about. Since this point, I suddenly had a total loss of inspiration to be blogging under GYV. I’m so sorry, it’s terrible blogging manners! But the good news is I’ve dreamed up some exciting new things and I’m ready to move forward.

I’m in the process of setting this up to hopefully be ready next week sometime. I can’t wait to get back into writing and sharing, and I hope you are looking forward to many more things from this space. I’ll let you know where to find me soon!

And one last little thing – thank you to those who contacted me to check in that I hadn’t actually falled off the face of the planet. Your genuine concern that something terrible hadn’t happened, and your love for this little corner of the internet were so lovely to hear. I’m both touched and inspired by you – thank you for giving me the extra boost of motivation I needed!

As always, a little late, but I hope you enjoy this month’s desktop calendar. This is a photo Scott took of our sideboard a few months ago, and I really think it feels like Autumn. It’s a pretty precious picture to me as the books were part of our decorations for our engagement party, and the small vase was part of the table decorations from our wedding. Small things that remind of the special days in our lives!

To make this your desktop calendar, click on the image and then from there save it to your computer and add it to your desktop. Simple!

I hope you enjoyed your Easter break! This year, we made Easter eggs ourselves from Fairtrade chocolate – I took some photos so I’ll pop them up soon. Scott also made hot cross buns which were delicious! We’ve so enjoyed relaxing in what I’ve been calling a ‘double weekend’ – four days is just amazing!

In exciting news, Fairly Local‘s website will be relaunching this week. Fairly Local is both a website and iPhone app that helps people in Australia (and soon to include New Zealand!) find fair trade in shops near them. Scott began this project a few years ago to help connect consumers to fair trade products. It’s been great to see how many people have responded to this idea, and how many people have become a part of the wider community of Fairly Local. Go visit the site, download the free app or follow them on facebook and twitter to stay in the loop about fair trade and the new features of Fairly Local as it relaunches!

As you all would know, I’m big on ethical living, particularly ethical clothing. It’s the whole motivation behind why I blog – to try and help others find answers as they hunt out what ‘living ethically’ might mean, from the perspective of a Sydney girl (who does still like her clothes a lot!). While I try and feature different brands that are out there on the blog, they sometimes don’t fit well with creating my ‘an ethical mix‘ outfit boards or I sometimes simply don’t have all the time I’d love to fit everything that I find onto the blog.

When I’m not blogging (or reading my massive feed of unread blogs on bloglovin – p.s. follow me there!) then I’m usually pinning the things I like on Pinterest. One of my favourite (and very large) pin boards is my ‘Ethical Living‘ board. If something somehow misses getting mentioned here it’s often made it in up there. If you’re a Pinterest fan, pop over and follow that board and even my whole page!

Much love for the coming weekend!! And what’s that? April’s coming? I’ll have to get onto the next desktop background for you all! xx

When I told my husband I was going to do a post about ethical mens clothing, his one request was that there be a keep cup. Cute!

I’ve been planning to do mens outfit boards for a while, and was prompted recently by a need to research some more ethical options for my husband. But then I also had a lovely email from a reader of the blog who was enquiring about what is out there in ethical mens clothing – a happy coincidence. I hope that this and the ones that are to come are useful for you all!

I’ve never been so excited about a homewares find as I have about Objects of Use. Both a physical store in Oxford, England (**sigh**) and also an extensive online store, Objects of Use house some humble yet useful items from times gone by, many of which are sourced from producers who began their production decades ago, yet whose products have stood the test of time (such as the tin of glue, unchanged in any way since 1927). Standing against ‘throwawayism’, they stock products that are built to last (and even to improve with age) and also source local European production as much as possible. Everything is truly beautiful, with clear vintage inspiration and humble honesty, both in aesthetics and in purpose.
